Technical UX Designer
Woodlands Health Campus
Client: Woodlands Health Campus
Project Type: Intranet
Project Role: UX Consultant + UI Coordinator

The purpose of this project is to redesign the current Woodlands Health Campus intranet to match the modern design trend using Power BI. This project is a partnership project with a 3rd party web development agency.

As a UX Consultant and UI Coordinator, my role is to give professional advice to the client with the input of their needs and to match their new intranet with the branding guide provided by the client. I have to coordinate with our in-house UI designer to provide a suitable color scheme for the intranet so that the web development agency can use the color scheme guide and implement it into Power BI.

I am responsible for the completion of low-fidelity mockups, consolidating feedback from clients and the team and final draft submission with high-fidelity mockups to the 3rd party development agency.

Before the project was accepted by Verz Design, I have to submit 3 wireframes mockups for the pitch within 1 week.
During the pitch, I need to design wireframes mockups for the Homepage, News page and Edit page. Prior to the pitch, we were not known that the intranet will be built using Power BI.

Hence, the designs were created based on the specific requirements given in the pitch documents and were done on Adobe XD.
When we received the project, I had a meeting with the client, together with the 3rd party developer.
The idea of the project is to keep it modern while information about the company can still be shared within the intranet.

After a day of discussion, I will only need to coordinate with my in-house UI designer to create a few high-fidelity mockups, on Adobe XD, that match the branding guide.

Although communication is the main key to this project, it is difficult to align all stakeholders' opinions and ideas together. Due to timeline restrictions, I was not able to achieve all stakeholders to be in the same meetings, which causes a lot of friction and conflicts, and multiple unnecessary adjustments to the designs were made during the process. It would be great if the miscommunication between the team and stakeholders could be prevented earlier.

In the end, I managed to receive approval for the UI color scheme by creating quick wireframes and handing them over to my in-house UI designer to support the high-fidelity. If the miscommunicating can be mitigated during the process, I believe that I am able to nail down both designs and UI elements within 3 weeks.
